Emergency Preparedness

It is important to know what to do in an emergency. Sunnybrook teachers have developed and reviewed Emergency Preparedness Plans and their roles in an emergency. We also have a Continuity of Operations Plan in place in the event that we are unable to operate out of our space. We educate the children about fire safety and practice monthly fire evacuation drills and two emergency drills per year so they are prepared for different emergency scenarios.

If there is an emergency at Sunnybrook that requires us to evacuate or shelter in place, please refer to the Emergency Evacuation Information. In an emergency, each child will have their child identification card pinned to their clothing.

We recognize that concern for your children will be overwhelming when you become aware of an emergency, but PLEASE, for the safety of all children, do NOT call or come to pick up your child until you have been contacted by a Sunnybrook Montessori School teacher, board member, or Emergency Personnel and have been told that it is safe to do so. You will be called as soon as possible about when and where to reunify with your child.

Emergency updates may be sent via text message, email or Facebook as time and attention allow.
