We spent a lot of the week learning about caterpillars and butterflies. Our caterpillars have arrived and are very small and sleepy. We were also able to acquire some frog eggs for the classroom which we watched hatch on Tuesday and Wednesday. The children are keeping a watchful eye on both our caterpillars and tadpoles and we are recording all our observations into booklets during afternoon circle time.
On Thursday, Corduroy the Bear from Believe in Books visited. The children enjoyed a Corduroy story and received a new book of their own.
We’ve been working hard on our folk dances at music time. We are practicing “The Danish Dance of Greeting”, “The Chimes of Dunkirk” and “The Mexican Hat Dance” which seems to be a favorite. We also had repeated requests for “The Dinosaur Stomp.”
I hope all our wonderful moms enjoyed their Mother’s Day! The children really enjoyed making the Mother’s Day presents for you.
As the warmer days approach you may want to send in bug spray/suntan lotion for outdoor play. Please label the bottles with your child’s name and make sure you have signed the permission form.
Friday students: Please have your child bring in a favorite pizza topping on Friday, May 13th. We are making fraction pizza to help us learn about whole, 1/2 and 1/4.
We need paper towel rolls and/or cardboard tubes for an end of the year art project! Please send them to school if you have any on hand.
