Sunnybrook Montessori School

Montessori preschool & kindergarten in New Hampshire's North Country

Week of October 9th

In honor of fire safety week, we enjoyed a visit from the firefighters! We learned about preventing fires, what to do in the event of a fire and saw the gear the firefighters wear. Best of all, the students got to check out the fire truck. They were especially impressed with the size of the wheels!

On Tuesday we read, “Pumpkin, Pumpkin” and learned about the pumpkin life cycle. We dissected a pumpkin and looked at the pumpkin pulp and seeds. The main observation was that it was, “squishy.”  We are getting pretty good at our “5 Little Pumpkins” poem.

At music we enjoyed listening to a song that Tammy brought in about a pumpkin on Halloween. We also played musical chairs after reading, “Monster Musical Chairs.”

Our 3 year old students have been busy scooping, pouring, cutting, window washing, painting and working with our sensory materials and Sandpaper Letters and Numerals. The older students have had out lots of math activities. They’ve been working with the Short and Long Chains, the Number Rods, The Hundred Board and learning about odd and even numbers. Kindergarten is doing a great job building, reading and writing consonant-vowel-consonant words and our first list of sight words.

If you have not brought in family pictures, please do so this week! We will be working on/finishing our family project.

Bring your family to Sunnybrook: Thursday, October 2oth from 5pm-7pm. Please show up anytime between 5pm-6:45pm and enjoy a tour of the school given by your child!
