Emily came in on Tuesday and introduced an Eric Carle art project, which the students enjoyed doing throughout the week.  We will display them next week for our art show.

Cooperative Musical Chairs
Cooperative Musical Chairs

We played a game of cooperative musical chairs during circle, where the children worked together to make sure that there was a spot for everyone as the chairs were removed.  They made room by squishing together so friends could share seats, and by sitting on laps.  We got down to six chairs for sixteen children!

We read some great stories this week.  We read Toot and Puddle, by Holly Hobby, about two friends;  one who loves to stay close to home and have adventures, and one who loves to travel the world.  We also read One, by Kathryn Otoshi, about standing up for yourself.  On Thursday we read Miss Rumphius, by Barbara Cooney, about doing something to make the world more beautiful.

We continued to practice for our last day performance, and spent time finishing up some special books for our families.  It was a busy week!

During Spanish we sang lots of our favorite songs, reviewed the names of the farm animals, and enjoyed the story El Mono Paparazzi, about a monkey who takes pictures of all the rain forest animals.

The Fairy House
The Fairy House

Friday students had a Fabulously Fun Friday!  Last week they came up with a plan for the day, and we did our best to accomplish it all.  They wore their pajamas to school.  They baked a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.  They put on bathing suits and played in the pool and the sprinkler.  They made an awesome obstacle course (outside this time), and had a fabulous time doing it over and over.  Gerrie Scott helped to make it a special last Friday as well.  After reading The Old Bear, by Kevin Henkes, she brought a surprise that she made for us – our very own fairy house.  The children were very excited, and can’t wait to show it to our other friends on Tuesday.  She also did face painting again.  Thank you Gerrie for so many great Friday stories and visits!
